My Story
I believe that healing is a whole-body, whole-self process. A journey of remembering who we are beneath the layers of survival, expectation, and adaptation.
My story begins with my family immigrating to Canada in my early childhood. Like many children of displacement, I grew up with the quiet weight of loss — loss of home, language, familiarity, and the unspoken responsibility to build something new while honouring what was left behind.
This experience of being between worlds has shaped how I understand people. I see identity as layered, living, and sometimes conflicting. I know what it feels like to navigate the tension between tradition and change, between family expectations and personal truth, between belonging and individuality. These dualities are not flaws to fix but invitations to integrate. My work with clients reflects this belief — that healing is not about erasing who we’ve been, but about bringing every part of ourselves into wholeness.
Before beginning my graduate training in counselling psychology, I spent several years working in education, community mental health, and the disability support sector with children, youth, adults, and families. I witnessed the quiet strength that comes from care, consistency, and connection. Those experiences taught me that growth happens when people feel seen and safe enough to explore their pain without fear of judgment.
As a Palestinian-Canadian woman and now a mother, my understanding of healing has deepened. Motherhood has invited me to rediscover parts of myself I had long silenced: the need for rest, tenderness, and authenticity. It has also illuminated the intergenerational patterns that shape us — the unhealed trauma, the inherited resilience, and the silent hopes carried through generations. These lessons inform the way I show up in therapy: with compassion for both the struggle and the strength that coexist in every story.
My Approach
My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection — to ourselves, to others, and to the body’s innate wisdom. I view therapy as a collaborative and compassionate space where we can explore the layers of your story with curiosity and gentleness.
I take a holistic and somatic approach, recognizing that our emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations are deeply intertwined. The body often remembers what the mind has learned to forget, and by listening to its signals, we can begin to release old patterns and create space for healing.
I work from a trauma-informed, culturally responsive lens, understanding that our personal pain does not exist in isolation. It is often rooted in intergenerational narratives, systemic realities, and unspoken cultural expectations. I honour the resilience and complexity that each client brings into the room. Whether you are navigating identity, anxiety, relationship struggles, or life transitions, my role is to walk alongside you as you reconnect with your inner strength and sense of self.
In our work together, you can expect a balance of emotional depth and practical grounding. I integrate somatic awareness, emotion-focused therapy, and attachment-based approaches, while also drawing from mindfulness, narrative, and systems theories. I view each client as the expert of their own life, and I aim to create a space where insight leads to embodied change.
At the heart of my practice is an emphasis on compassion, curiosity, and collaboration. I see therapy as a process of remembering your own capacity to heal, grow, and live with authenticity. It’s not about becoming someone new — it’s about coming home to yourself.
Who I Work With
I work with individuals (16+), couples, and families who are seeking support with:
Anxiety Depression Stress Emotional regulation Relationship challenges Family challenges Cultural identity, belonging, and transitions Life transitions Low self-esteem and self-worth Parenting and intergenerational patterns Trauma recovery and nervous system regulation PTSD Grief and loss Attachment injuries Moral injuries Boundary challenges Perfectionism Communication Women’s issues Perinatal, postpartum, and maternal mental health Inner-child work
This is not an exhaustive list. If you are curious about other areas of support, please feel free to reach out via email or book a consultation to determine if we are a good match.
Modalities I Use
My work is grounded in a holistic and somatic framework, meaning I consider the mind, body, and spirit as interconnected parts of the healing process.
This means that the modalities I use in therapy are flexible and tailored to each individual. In our work, we may explore the stories you tell yourself, the sensations you experience in your body, and the beliefs that have shaped your relationships and identity. This integration helps move healing from insight into embodied transformation.
I draw from several therapeutic modalities, including:
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) Polyvagal Theory & Somatic Awareness Hakomi Therapy Narrative Therapy Internal Family Systems (IFS) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Psychodynamic Therapy Solution Focused Therapy Contact Me
I would be happy to answer any questions or curiosities you may have about therapy with me.
